STATEMENT ON 60th Anniversary of BURMA'S MARTYR'S DAY
July 19, 2007
Sixty years ago, Burmese national leader General Aung San and seven other cabinet ministers including Burmese Muslim U Razak were assassinated by a group of militant in Yangon. Although Burma gained independence six months after this tragedy, the spirit of freedom and national reconciliation has disappeared along with Burma’s martyrs.

Burmese Muslim Refugees Seek Kingdom’s Help

JEDDAH, 20 July 2007 — Muslim Refugees from Burma have sought Saudi Arabia’s support and assistance in facilitating the stay of hundreds of thousands of them across the Kingdom and also in finding a peaceful political solution to their long standing problem with the military rulers back home.

Czech mission funds mobile health care project for refugees in Malaysia
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia, June 25 (UNHCR) – The Czech Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has agreed to fund a nine-month UNHCR project aimed at providing mobile health care for about 1,000 refugees in Malaysia.

10,000 Unrecognized Burmese Refugees to be Moved to New Camp
6/26/2007; Narinjara Online News - 10,000 unrecognized Burmese Muslim refugees who are currently living on the bank of the Naff River in Teknaf township opposite the Burmese town Maungdaw, will be moved by Bangladesh authorities to a secure place in the very near future.

Eight Burmese Families Given Chance to Resettle in Canada from Bangladesh

Eight refugee families from the Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh have been selected by the Canadian government and the local UNHCR office to resettle in Canada, reports a refugee from the camp.

Authorities from Canada and UNHCR officials selected the eight families out of 14 after conducting interviews with them.
